LOST

This photo series tells a profound and timely story, weaving cultural heritage, identity, and the complexities of migration into a visual narrative that speaks to both the heart and the mind. At its core, the series follows the journey of a Yoruba Egungun—a masquerade with an owl-shaped head—who loses himself after leaving his homeland and venturing into the disorienting world of an urban city, symbolized by London. His journey mirrors the experiences of many Africans in the diaspora, who, in the pursuit of opportunity, often find themselves disconnected from the culture and identity that once defined them.

The imagery powerfully juxtaposes the warmth and familiarity of Africa with the cold, indifferent backdrop of an urban environment, highlighting the tension between tradition and modernity, belonging and alienation. Through this journey, the artwork sends a compelling message: no matter how far we go, we must always return to our roots to rediscover who we truly are.
